I have a Norstar that had a 24 channel T1. They use FEATURE 900 to charge calls. We recently replaced the T1 with a PRI and now they no longer can use FEAT 900. We are being told that they can't use FEAT 900 with a PRI, that we have to put a regular T1 in instead. Can someone confirm this for me? My norstar knowledge is extremely limited. Thank you.

i think you are talking about account codes ...

they are a feature of the smdr or cta in unison with the accounting software.

the type of trunk has no impact on the use of account codes

well, again, since I know nothing about Norstars can you verify what the alleged top Nextira One Norstar engineer told us, which is that due to the timing on a PRI circuit we can no longer use account code (FEAT 900)? It sounds like you're saying we can.

timing? T1 also needs timing (i'm assuming 'clock recovery')

if regis is going to ask me is that your final answer ... i'll say YES

It just doesn't sound right to me. I don't think having the ability to charge a call via an account code should not be possible with a PRI T1. I'm scanning the internet trying to find some more info. thanks anyway for your help.

I'm not in that office so i'll call over there and ask and post back.

sure coniglio ... pls post if you find any information

Is it me, or is it time to call aqualified Norstar Vendor??

yes, it is, except we don't have one. That's why i'm trying to figure this out on my own but am obviously in way over my head.

When they press FEAT 900 their display shows ENTER ACCOUNT

enter a valid account code ...and then the call should go thru
(if it is unvalidated, you can pretty much enter any account code 1 thru 12 digits)

Did anyone ever find an answer to this? I am having the same issue.

I'm still waiting. Senk1s, the way the office manager explained it to me is that, since the install of the new PRI T1, there is not enough time to actually press ten digits. I think the far end answers before the ten-digit account code is entered. And Nextira One says this is a timing issue with the PRI circuit and the only option we have is to go back to a straight (non-PRI) T1. thanks.

What I don't understand is if a Norstar has a timing issue
why dont opt 11 have the same problem.

Apparently, according to Nextira, the timing issue is with the PRI, not the Norstar.

Has your smdr changed to the Norstar format also. Can it at least be put back to the SL1 emulated? You are not in Houston by any chance are you ?

you dont have to enter the code before the call connects, you can do so even when you are on a call actively.

but it is true that the call setup time in a PRI circuit is very less, that has got nothing to do with accounting code.
This accounting code, goes only to the norstar and not to the CO.

i might be visiting a site with a PRI and SMDR(but this being friday i may not :) i'll confirm, but i'm pretty sure account codes will work irrespective of the trunk type

they know they can enter the code during the call but they don't want to. they want to enter the code first.
What i think is happening (but i'm not at that site) is that they make a call, then get prompted to enter an account code. but before they finish entering the ten-digit code the far end picks up and hears them entering the code. prior to new T1 they were able to enter the code, then the call went out (I think!) I appreciate any and all assistance you can give me. thank you!!

are they entering account codes for every call?
if so, switch to forced account codes

for which you'll need a CTA(instead of the smdr) and 3rd party call control software, which will make you enter a valid code and then only put the call thru

this is what one of our clients use
