FAX over SCN after 4.2

The Fax resists to dissappear.

Some customers use voip extensions over dedicated data channel.

We want to know if the fax works right over SCN. To be able to put another IPO connecting faxes from external branch office to route faxes to the main office.

I would think that if you use g711 you have enough bandwidth to have faxes going over, but I have no setup with faxes over VoIP so this is just a guess. You might need to restrict the faxes to 14.400 kbps too just in case, but as mentioned all theoretical knowledge.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

fax needs to use T38 Codec won't work on anything else, remember it works off tones. IPO does not support T38 at this present time.

Your fax needs to have a low bautrate (9600 or max 11400)
T38 is not supported
Just route it out instead of over the SCN
Foul the customer by making a shortcode for that :)

But that's indeed the best thing to do.

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

It will only work if the used codec is G.711 with a max baud rate of 14400 and the network must be of a good quality.

I have a SCN working with pri to foip to extension to group to gfi faxmaker working.

IC is set to ANY routing to short code
SC is set to Dial3k1 and IP trunk
IP Trunk is g.711, Direct Media and Voice Networking on. Nothing else is on.

It works both ways. The central site can fax over scn to a hard fax at the remote site. The circuit is MPLS.
