I looked this thing over with a fine tooth comb yesterday, it is a BCM 400 4.0, patched current as of last night. Cannot send fax out of outlook, and cannot put in a number manually it makes you use an address book entry only. Searched the knowledge base and didn't find much. Did a CPTrace and it looks like it is trying to send it out as an email as opposed to just dialing out of the phone system.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think the each mailbox needs the outdial programed to allow sending a fax out of nortel fax.

Yeah I just double checked I do have that done, still no change.

Good Idea

Got any firewall software on the PC, or firewall anywhere between the PC and the BCM, that is blocking SMTP (port 25)? The client uses SMTP to send the fax to the BCM.

Easy way to tell if it's blocked is go to a DOS prompt and type this: telnet X.X.X.X 25

Put in the IP of the BCM where the X.X.X.X is. You should get some type of response if it is making it through. McAfee's AV software seems to be the biggest culprit.

You may want to do a search in the Nortel: Callpilot messaging soloutions forum. You may want to search that forum for an answer. At top of page type callpilot in search box and select find a forum. Callpilot desktop will be the bottom one. Just a suggestion. I was not aware there was such a forum. This site is great.

Have you tried setting up one of the voice mailboxes to do an Outbound Transfer (just to test) to see if that works? If that doesn't, make sure the VM DN has access to the trunk group.
