Since clearing the Emmanuel Virus and downloading McAfee Anti Virus Software I have had problems whilst on the Internet with a Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C001545A followed by Fatal Exception OD has occurred at 0246:014747FB. Can anyone help

What G-card and soundcard do you have? Goto "run" and type "MSINFO32.EXE" and go into the conflics and sharing area, it is most likely a IRQ conflict with the two cards.

Hi
did you get an answer to your question? Will you let me know. I have had the same course of events and am trying to find a fix. Appreciate your response!

I turned off McAfee and the error did not occur again but McAfee did kindly respond and suggested I remove ActiveShield and then download it again. They then gave me detailed instructions to remove all traces from Registry and how to download ActiveShield again. I haven't done this yet but can forward the instructions I received

Hi there:

I've been getting the following on a very regular basis since downloading McAffee software:

Fatal Exception OE has occurred at 0028:C001545A.

Looks like it might be the McAffee stuff. Frankslater, if you have the time, could you give me some detailed info on how you are going about fixing the problem? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

It's time to hunt down McAfee, and shoot it.
Look in your autoexec.bat and config.sys about any McAfee lines, and delete them. You don't need a DOS scan if you're running windows, and this seems to be a throwback.
Second recommendation (should have been the first), is go to and get InocculateIt PE.
It's free, tons of updates (every second day or so), and free updates for life. It also scans and removes viri from email attachments, and trojans, etc., and removes and reports that are easy to understand. Takes up less room than Norton/McAfee/Panda et al, and uses less memory as well. Cheers,

Frankslater, I've been having the exact same problem except my OD error was 0246:015747FB. I have tried many things including disabling the video bios shadow on another forum user's advice, all to no avail. For now I have Active Shield disabled and I don't seem to have any problems. Could you please e-mail me or post the instructions they gave you? Thanks.

Hi FrankSlater,

I too have been experiencing the above error for a number of weeks and would very much appreciate the instructions on total uninstall of Active Shield. Thank you in advance.

I have also had the fatal error 0028:c001545a on my pc, Luckily I found this site in time, I would be grateful on information on how to deal with it.I have also just downloaded macfees, many thanks.

I have a 450mghz Pentium III with 15g HD, 96mg memory, DVD, floppy and zip drives. I'm currently using Norton antivirus. When I try to load a CD, I get an OD exception occuring at 0028:(various) in VxD called from 0028:C182EF68 in VxD scsi1hlp(03). A hard reboot will bring Windows back up but I can't use the DVD drive. This problem could have happened when I tried to load the software from a scanner that I purchased that plugged into the USB. Nothing that I've tried has helped. Your help would be appreciated.
