The customer is an answering service. They have a frac-T1 on a BCM50. They have several DID's that ring in for their customers. We named these target lines their associated business name. When an incoming call rings in on a target line it does not show the target line name until you answer the call. Does anyone know a way to have the target line name appear when an incoming call rings in on it?

We did some more testing and found that if the phone is off hook it will show the line name for about 3 seconds. However, it will not show the line name when the phone is idle and a call comes in on a target line.

When the phone is idle it does not show anything but the time and date when a call rings in. They would like for it to show the target line name. When the phone is off-hook it does display the target line name for a few seconds.

Not sure of a way to accomplish that.

How many phones does the line ring on? A cheap, dirty way would be to remove the line assignment from the phone and let it prime to the set - you'd at least see "LineName to Prime". But, that would only work for one set.

If multiple phones need this, maybe assign each line to a it's own hunt group, assign the phones to the hunt group, and then name the hunt group. But, I don't recall right off hand if a ring only hunt group displays the hunt group name on an inbound call. It works with appear and ring, but that probably isn't an option either.

Thanks for your input. There are 5 phones that ring. This one may be a lost cause.

Have you checked your settings on the phones to see if they are caller ID sets? If anything else, you can always program a button for f811 and that will show the caller id. just an extra step for the ans. serv.

Thanks for the info. That is what we have done. Even though it is another step it gives them the info they want.

Make sure the sets are set up for auto caller ID and the target for that phone is set to caller ID yes
