Failover when VMP goes offline? 5

We have been having trouble with our PC that runs VMP shutting down. waiting for IT to fix it. I set the failover to another extension for the main office in the event the VMP goes offline but the calls just ring when the auto attendant and VMP are down.

I have the DID number DESTINATION set to the AA which answers first all the time and the FALLBACK EXTENSION set to another GROUP that should ring several extensions when the VMP is down.. This is not working. Have I got the settings programmed wrong?

have you checked is system status to see where the call is ringing?

how is the AA getting down and how did you know that the AA is down? what is the IPO Edition? can you check this with 2 Extensions, one in the destination and the other in the failback destination then disconnect the destination Extension and check if the calls go to the failback extension?

If the VM Pro pc is still online and powered up, IPO does not recognize it as failed. I’ve had this happen on several occasions when the service was “locked up”. It’s not functioning but the IPO doesn’t know that. Remove the pc from the LAN until it’s fixed.
You might also have to switch to embedded VM until your PC is back.

It is shame that there is no fallover to embedded voicemail even if it a much less capable product.
