I have a RS6000/F40 that i need a pci Nic for, can i use any kind or does it have to be ordered from IBM? If any one has model numbers or ideas please let me know

As far as i'm aware you will have to purchase an IBM Nic Card for the F40, but you don't have to buy from IBM.
You can get second user Nic cards for about £80-90.
Try
We use them all the time for second user RS6000 bits.
