Which external Voice Mail machine can work with MD110 ?
I need external Voice mail machine that can notify MD110 that message has arrived, so LED is lit on digital telephone.
System is BC9, so I cannot use integrated Voice Mail....

Hi

I can recommend the OCTEL 200/300.
Today these products are sold by AVAYA.
They used to be sold by LME /// before the OneBox came on to the marked.
We have some OCTEL 200 voice mail systems that have been running fault free for up to 10 years.
Please also watch the tek-tips forum for AVAYA: Octel messaging solutions.

Let me know if help is needed on programming this OCTEL voice mail box.
Best regards doktor

Hi again

OCTEL 200 will work fine together with MD110 BC9, I forgot to say.
It works fine with MD110 BC 7 till BC 12.

Hi
I use OneBox but it cost. Expensive.
I don’t now nothing about OCTEL cost.
But maybe is a time to upgrade your MD and buy Integrated Voice mail - not buy external system.
You must calculate costs.

Hi Doktor & RFPUI,

Is OCTEL using a Primary ISDN or analog lines to make voice connection with MD110 ?
What is approx. price of OCTEL?

The Curious

You can use both ISDN and/or analog Connection for connecting Octel/Avaya.

Note: The cost of Onebox is strongly reduced, if you choose IP-Integration to MD110.

Hi,

You can buy voice mail Telebutler from Voxtron, it is installed in one PC , and you can buy cards with 2,4,8 or 12 anolog lines or you can buy a digital E1 or T1 it depends what you need.
you have voice mail notification on phone LED and you can also voice to e-mail notification you can reive an e-mail saying that you a message in you voice mail or you can receive an e-mail with an attachment of voice message.
It is connecto to MD110 via serial cable to ICU or IPU.
Telebutler it is also an IVR so you can also use for other things.

Hi

The "OCTEL Serenade 200 voice mail server" can be installed in connection with MD110 using analogue or digital CAS lines.
ISDN/QSIG can perhaps be used, but I am not sure.
The OCTEL Serenade 200 voice mail server is today sold by AVAYA.
OCTEL 200/300 were earlier sold by Ericsson.
As you are using MD110 BC9 the NIU board cannot be used.
Instead use the ICU for the data connection to MD110 via serial cable.
Up to 5000 mailboxes can be installed.

CallXpress... is the same as OneBox but it does not have IP extension ports. Might also be less expense...

Also you can have internal voice mail from E///... this only suits smaller systems or feature reduced requirements.

Which internal E/// Voice Mail system can be install in BC 9?

Hi

We are discussing MD110 BC 9!
IVM (integrated voice mail) was not implemented before BC10.
So, the system needs to be external using ICU for the datachannel and analogue or CAS digital lines for the ports / lines for the external voice mail box.

Dear Friends from the World
And now I see other little problem. (may be it is not problem).
Is it possible to buy ICU board now?

1. If I know BC 9 is not supported by E///.
2 ICU board is replaced by NIU/NIU2
3 NIU/NIU2 can’t be install in BC 9.
4 To connect external VM system ICU or NIU is needed

I still think that is a time to upgrade MD

oops... Good point frpui: I should have taken more care...

Isinor

If I remember well, ICU2 and IPU boards had the SAME hardware.
All the difference was in firmware.
Find working ICU2, copy PROMs and insert them to IPU instead of old ones. And you will get new ICU2.

Or. Shop around for second-hand card.

So, if you BC9 still work fine and you don't any new features, no needs to harry with upgrade.

Regards

I went through my notes from the BC9 days.
Of course you need the external voice mail box in BC9!
No internal products from Ericsson are available here.

Next step is always to try the command VMPOP; and VMFUP;.
If COMMAND UNKNOWN is the result, then there are two reasons for this.
1.
The programs IHH, IHAH, DIM, DIR, MWP, ILP and IDP should be proper loaded before the VM function can operate.
In some countries these programs should match the IPAD number. Ericsson does not deliver the mentioned programs anymore for BC9.
So, hopefully they are already loaded in your system.
2.
Even after loading these program a SACOS command should be entered. This SACOS enables the VM commands.
The was infact a kind of BC9 license.
I am not sure that this SACOS is necessary in all countries.

Next step would be MD110 hardware.
Use ICU or ICU2. If not available, then:
ICU can be "made" from an old IOU with ICU prom.
ICU2 can be "made" from an old IPU with ICU2 proms (2 pcs)

Good luck
BR doktor

Hi people,

thanks for all the pieces of information.

I have ICU2, so there would be no problem to implement external voice mail.
I am interested mainly in low cost system that can be connected to analog lines.
Any suggestions?

Hi

How many port voicemail do you need?
If you only need a 4 or 8 port there are a few small PC based systems on the market. I can highly recommend a system by Crimp that i usually install for customers it has all the features of the expensive ones mentioned here, it's far cheaper, just as reliable and I have it working on many BC9 MD110's, but it depends on where you are.
