So there is now a way to have external MOH on a IPO server via USB. That part works fine. Any IP Phones that register with the primary server have MOH when you put someone on hold or hit *34.

Here is the rub, in the documentation, it says to get my IP500s in the SCN to play that same MOH, I have to create and alternate source and point it at the H323 line number and source number of the primary.

"LINE:
In Server Edition networks, setting the Secondary Server and Expansion Server Alternate Source to Line allows the server to receive streamed audio from a source on the Primary Server. On the Secondary Server and Expansion Server, enter Line:x,y where x is the line number to the Primary Server and y is the MOH source number on the Primary Server."

I have tried this with "line" being all caps, and just the first letter caps. I have tried where y=1 (because in the primary it is USB,1) and y=2 Because the "alternate source" on the primary is 2. The doc also says that making changes to the alternate source does not need a reboot. :/

Nothing has worked. Has anyone else gotten this to work?

Thanks in Advance!

Thanks!

Tiny bit of new found information. So if I do the short code *34# .... nothing. But if I do *342# then I get the MOH form the Primary server. But still nothing when I put the call on hold. I have the MOH source set to external on the IP500.

Thanks again in advance.

Thanks!

I have it working at a customers site. Please clarify how you have the MOH configured on the server and how you have it configured on the IP500's.

As a side note, why are your IP phones registering to the Server? Are they registering to a primary or secondary? As I recall an IP500 can failover to a Server, but a Server cannot failover to an IP500. Just something that crossed my mind.

On the server, it is set to External with Alternate source 2 set to USB:1

One the IP500s, it is set to External with Alternate source 2 set to Line:17,1

As far as the IP phones. It is more of a matter of consistency. Rather than having H323 extensions spread across 11 systems, we just put them on the Primary. We have already tested fail over, and it works just fine.

Thanks!

What release are you on, just out of curiosity?

Thanks!
