For some reason users are not able to dial into our voicemail system from the outside. The internal number used for voicemail (6666) is outside our DDI range and a unique number in the DDI range has been configured to point to this system. When you dial this number internally it works great but when you dial it from outside it won't give you the option to access voicemail. What's annoying is that I can't even find where the number was configured to check the settings. I checked the Hunt/Pickup/Ring Groups with no luck.

Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you.

PS is there any way for users to access their Voicemail if they dial their own numbers from the outside?

I would suspect that you would/should find it in the System Speed Call lists, as this is the easiest way to accomplish what you are describing. Whatever the DID digits are would equal the speed dial number. Then the internal 6666 for vm would be in the actual number field.

Another option would be that the DID digits will be an ACD path.

Once you know where the DID digits are so that calls route to the voicemail, then we can help you better.

Use the Maintenance command "Locate Number 6666" and it will tell you what it is.

What exactly is happening when the number is called from outside?

Did you point the speedcall to the voicemail huntgroup ?

Hi all,

It is indeed routed via a Speedcall number but sadly I can't find any relevant settings there.

When that number is called internally you talk to the company Autoattendant. If you ask to be forwarded to the Voicemail Hunt group or any individual Voicemail port you end up back at the Autoattendand. Internally it works fine.

?????

What we have done is point a system speed call at the hunt group, then given the below instructions:

1. Dial ***********
2. when answers press *
3. follow instructions to pick up voicemails or change voicemail options

Doh....

Indeed we were missing out the very crucial step 2.

Many thanks. It seems there was nothing wrong in the first place.

Many thanks.

Best regards,
