I have a user in UK whose phone extension is still functioning ext 725, but it's not working internally set to set calling. I look in Active Set DN's and it's not even there?? I'm just starting out familiarizing myself here with BCM as I have acquired the UK systems admin. Is there any way to do a retreive all, or figure out why this is no longer showing?

Thank you

Don't reboot, this is a simple and common problem. Remember your State side, you can't believe what those Brits are telling you. Guaranteed, someone moved or swapped a telephone.

Now, the fix is to go into Change DN and Change x728, to x725. You will also have to change the name back to whatever x725 should say.

It might only be their not understanding of me. Not a problem. As I'm pretty much in the same boat learning the difference between this and RAD. I appreciate your help with this.

There isn't any difference then RAD as far as looking at it and making any changes. You can dial into a BCM just like a RAD except you use IE and UM.

Actually I use the Norstar ICS programming tools. It's like being right on the phone.

I find using the BCM UM and A RAD better than a phone as you can see more thing at one time and it's easier to see programming errors.

That's a RAD. You will not be able to use such a feature on the BCM. It's all point and click and dropdown menus. If your that familiar with telset programming, call someone there on a cell and have them make the change with you on the telephone. Ftr**, system, pswd.

I don't see a "change DN" option. I went to the active DN's list and changed the appearance name and extension, but they aren't changing in the list.

If it's 3.7 or below, you could use the wizard. But, it's definitely a choice in UM. Click on the main choices under Telephony Services and it will be on the screen. It is not a dropdown choice.

I don't advise new user's to do DN changing as you can screw up the whole system like my former boss did one day when I was out sick. If your smart you will read my posts and try them before you creat a nightmare for yourself. This is an easy problem to fix. the simplest it to just tell the user to have people call him at 728 instead of 725 and to stop moving phones around if they don't know what there doing.

Good morning.

Hello, I've tried everything but reboot. The version is 4.5.

I've read every post here and the most obvious is not the case. These phones are in St. Albans. The nearest possible support staff is in Southampton. It's not possible these attendants have moved phones. There is a phone on every single desk, occupied or not. I know every person in this office and if they tell me the phone was not moved, or touched then it wasn't. These people are practically afraid to touch their mouse and keyboard let alone fiddling with their phones.

All we do is add/remove/modify mailboxes and line displays. That is it. If there is a phone problem which requires assistance, I personally dispatch somebody from the support staff in Southampton to go out and replace the phone. We don't mess around with fixing them.

Question

Does the phone work?

When they do F*0 and hit the intercom key, what does it say the DN is?

If you now know what the right DN/EXT#/intercom it is, why can't they just use it with that DN and make a new Vmail for it.

Can you Dial into or connect to this system yourself?

I'm able to access their BCM via http. I see all of the active and inactive sets. They came back from the weekend, and the phones were doing wierd things. Not accepting inbound calls, not completing calls internally and in this case a completely different name in addition to not being able to dial internally, and her set now shows inactive.

I think a COLD reboot is in order. A COLD reboot is pull the AC Plug and count to 10 and plug back in. takes about 20 min.

Ok, I was going to do the telnet warm reboot last night but wanted to wait and get a better idea from you guys.

Thanks

I do a warm boot monthly though Maintence section, but that s not the same as a COLD reboot. If the problem continue, then you need a Vendor on site.

A warm reboot is a waste of time. There is no 4.5 version. Do what ace says, but I say it'll take 10mins. to come back up.

10 min for the phones to start working but another 10 min before all the LED's stop flashing and you can get into the system to do programming.

Isn't that the version?

Hey;
click on the word "System"
That will tell you the software version.
With that interface you do not have anything newer than 3.7.

I do agree with acewarlock though, just change 728 to 725
from where you are in your picture open up "Telephony Services", click on the word "General Settings", up across the top you will see "Configuration" darken, click on "Configuration" , enter "728" (for old dn), enter "725" (for new dn).

Just keep saying "BCM's are fun" while you are doing it, that's the key.
