Scenario: A caller gets an auto attendant after hours. When they choose an option, the call goes to an extension based upon the option the choose from the menu. When calling the extension directly, the coverage path for that extension works correctly but when a "route-to digits" step is executed, the call will not cover to voicemail. I NEED the call to cover to the extensions coverage path properly.

Any suggestions?

make sure it is Y,,

What is the extensions coverage path? If it's voicemail, use "messaging skill XX for extension 1234" instead.

the coverage path for the extension is voicemail.

use this instead of the route-to digits step?

what number do i use for the skill?

You will use the hunt group number for your voicemail system (list hunt). This sends the call directly to VM without ringing at the station first.

it needs to ring the station first.

Okay, I thought you just needed to call to go to coverage. The "route to number 1234 with coverage Y if unconditionally" should ring the station and then follow the station's coverage path.

Where has the call been before it reaches this vector? (A call can't be covered twice unless you trick it).

Can you use list trace vector and post the results?

Susan is correct, but another messy way of doing it is as follows: -

Create an x-port station (1234) with a coverage path.

set the first point on the coverage path to be the extension you want to ring eg. 2468, and set the 2nd point on the coverage path to be h99 (replace 99 with your voicemail hunt group number) Create a voicemail account on st 1234.

On the vector do the route to digits 1234 and the cov pa for 1234 will work.

The call will ring at extension 2468 and then will go to voicemail.

A dirty, messy method but it works.

the call comes into a receptionist. the night service button is a send-calls button which sends the call to a coverage path for which the vdn for the auto attendant is point number 1.

what would be a better solution so that coverage paths are taken out of the equation. if i'm understanding this correctly, the call is not covering to voicemail because the call has already went into coverage when the call was made to the receptionist's phone.

please advise. thanks.

i tried using call forwarding instead of send-calls, and the same thing happened.

what is the night service column used for on the incoming-call-handling-treatment page on the trunk group form?
