I am getting an error stating "Can't find message, messages has been deleted or access is denied" when I try to move messages from the exchange server to a local pst file. We are using Exchange 5.5 SP3 on the server and Outlook97,98 and 2000 on the desktop. I have the problem in every client. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to run the inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) on the pst file. It comes bundled with NT4, but I think I got a more up to date version from the Microsoft web site.
Strangely, someone not 10 feet from me had this problem yesterday.

Ricardo,
But I don't think that I have 10 PST files that are bad. I have this happening on multiple computers for mutilple machines. Is there something like the inbox repair tool that may need to be run on the server?

Would you happen to be using Norton Antivirus for Exchange on your Exchange Server? I had the same problem and it worked normally after I took Norton Antivirus out of the MAPI/VAPI mode.

DLane,
Is there any problem with taking Norton Antivirus for Exchange out of MAPI/VAPI mode? We do use that product and I want to make sure before changing it that we are still going to be protected from viruses.

I agree with dlane's answer and the Norton AntiVirus for Exchange. This happened to our site recently. The solution was to change from MAPI/VAPI mode to just MAPI mode. Been running in this scenario for the past 2 months and all is working very well.
