Hello,
Wondering, is there an expression I can enter in the field portion in query design that would populate with the string entered in a criteria for that query?

The criteria is from a field that is not shown in output and so when prompted, I type "Amphibian" and the field name that outputs reads "Amphibian Sub Species"

Thank you.........

I am not quite sure what you mean. Is it something like this?

[tt]PARAMETERS Selection Text ( 255 );
SELECT tblTableA.ID, tblTableA.Species, tblTableA.Subspecies, [Selection] AS Sel
FROM tblTableA
WHERE tblTableA.Subspecies=[Selection];[/tt]

If you make the string a parameter you can do this: Display parameter values in a query
