Is the only way to make a label field that contains 20 lines of text in the space of 10 lines by encapsulating that label in a subform?

I was hoping there is some way to add a scroll box boundary, and all control GUI widgets I add inside would be able to scroll.

It seems that subforms is the only way to do this, right?

You can create the effect of a scrolling label using a text box. Create a text box, and set these properties:

Scroll Bars = Vertical
Enabled = Yes
Locked = Yes

Set the text in the text box programmatically.

If you click on the text box, the scroll bar will appear. You can scroll through the text, but you cannot change it.

Set the other formatting properties as you require, to make your text box look as much like a 'real label' as required.

I hope that this helps.
