I've been banging my head on this for a few.. I'm not sure if the format is wrong and that's the problem or not, here's what I have:

*60
Voicemail ON
"HGTest123"

*61
Voicemail OFF
"HGTest123"

I've tried "HGTest123" ~~ "?"HGtest123 ~~ HGTest123 etc. I am part of the HuntGroup that I'm trying to turn voicemail on/off.

When I try the shortcode it dials *60 and says "Number?"

I tried to look for other posts and found ones such as: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1100256 which is where I got the shortcode.

Any help is appreciated!

You cannot turn off and on voicemail for a group this way.
I recall trying this in the past and it did not work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks for the reply.

So there's no possible way to do this with a shortcode on embedded?

I understand upgrading to preferred would make life easier, but not the route they want with this site.

Depending on what else you do with the hunt group, you can send calls to voicemail by overflowing to a sequential group with a single member that is forwarded unconditionally including hunt group calls to a short code that does voicemail transfer to the original hunt group mailbox (just like you would get an automated attendant to answer after a hunt group doesn't pick up the call).

Then you could put the original hunt group out of service (via shortcode or button) with a fallback group that mimics the original group, but has no voicemail turned on and doesn't have the overflow.....

Thanks for the input, Tommy.

Here's the problem and the solution I found:

The site is in a very remote in-the-middle-of-nowhere location using analog lines.
The main number is a HG. They wanted to be able to forward calls during the weekends to their cell phones so I programmed 2 buttons. Take HG out of service and a forward unconditionally button.
The forwarding worked when it was set to go straight to a user then forwarded, but when I tried to forward out of a HG using Sequential or Rotary, I would get "that call cannot be completed". I double and triple checked all my settings and realized it was a provider issue.

Due to the fact they are so far out, it takes forever to get any decent provider service.

Solution:
Made sure Queuing and Voicemail were unchecked, set Overflow time on HG and had overflow to go a phantom user that forwarded to AA/Voicemail. In the ICR I set the fallback extension on the phone they use to forward calls. Fallback will work if no queuing and voicemail aren't in play. Problem solved.

In a nutshell:
ON: HG --> Overflow --> AA
OFF: HG out of service --> fallback extension in ICR --> Forward to cell

I know I could have contacted the provider and I probably still will, but this is a solution that worked for me, hopefully it'll help someone out. If anyone needs clarification on this long-winded post, please let me know.

Thanks again for the help. Star for the effort, Tommy.
