Hello, Usually I try to stay away from embedded messaging but I have a customer that doesnt want a seperate computer to "quit working". I am forced to use embedded messaging. My question is can I toggle between night and day service from a short code or programmed button. They are the type of business that may work late some days and leave early on others. I know I can toggle a hunt group from day/night with short code *20 and *21 (default S/C) but this does a hunt group. The Incoming Call Route will point directly to an AA. I really dont want to tell them to use manager to make the changes. Any ideas???

Yes. Assuming you just want to change from a day to night greetings, you'll use two hunt groups. First group will launch day AA - other will launch night AA. Create two shortcodes - one to access day AA, other for night. Create two phantom users - again, one for day and other for night. Forward all calls (including hunt group calls) for 'day user' to "day aa" shortcode. Forward all calls for "night user" to "night aa" shortcode.

ICR to day AA hunt. Calls will ring user which will launch day aa.

In day hunt group, send "night calls" to night hunt group - which will launch the night aa.

Use a button or shortcode to toggle day hunt group to night mode.

The problem I see with that is they will need to dedicate a phone to the phantom user, am I correct? Is there a way to change the AA or the Time profile from a phone without having to go in to manager?

make all calls go to one huntgroup (day), set the night service fall back to another huntgroup (night) then you can set the night service for that group via shortcode

Sorry to be redundant but I want to make sure I have this correct:

ICR---->HG1(day group) if call are not answered or user sets night service it will go to AA. The problem here is callers need to go directly in to AA for the day and then at night they need to go to a night VM. I think I may be confusing everyone because I am definately confused myself. Keep in mind that the time profile will always be at 9 to 5 so if there is anything before or after those hours they need to toggle turning it on or off.

Mike, after reading your post this makes a lot of sense but I cant seem to piece it together. "Create two shortcodes - one to access day AA, other for night. Create two phantom users - again, one for day and other for night. Forward all calls (including hunt group calls) for 'day user' to "day aa" shortcode. Forward all calls for "night user" to "night aa" shortcode." This is the part I dont understand. I am using 4.2 by the way. What exactly am I accessing in the short codes for day and night?

Let's try this way.

1. Create the day auto attendant. Let's say you'll call it DayAA
2. Create a shortcode that launches the day AA. Let's say the code is *93. Feature is Auto Attendant. Tel # is AA:DayAA
3. Create a user with extension 199. User name is LaunchDayAA. On Forward tab - check Forward unconditional and Include Hunt Group boxes. Forward destination is *93
4. Create a hunt group that is called DayAAHunt - numbered 198. Add user LaunchDayAA as the only agent.

5. Create the night auto attendant. Lets say you'll call it NightAA
6. Create a shortcode that launches the night AA. Let's say the code is *94. Feature is Auto Attendant. Tel # is AA:NightAA
7. Create a user with extension 197. User name is LaunchNightAA. On Forward tab - check Forward unconditional and Include Hunt Group boxes. Forward destination is *94
8. Create a hunt group that is called NightAAHunt - numbered 196. Add user LaunchNightAA as the only agent.

9. Back over on DayAAHunt hunt group, send calls when in night mode to hunt group NightAAHunt.

10. Send ICR to hunt group DayAAHunt. Calls will immediately go to day auto attend. Put DayAAHunt into night mode via button or shortcode and calls will immediately go to night auto attend.

Mforrence, if your ever in Jacksonville I will buy you a beer. Thanks for the time and help. I fully understand now. I am having a problem with the greeting playin in Embedded. When I record the morning, afternoon or eve greeting they do not play but the menu greeting will play??? I tried it with no time profile, I tried it with naming the message and a tried it direct in to the AA without anything else going on. It will not play the first mor, aftnoon, or eve greetings am I missing something there?

There is something broken about embedded AA greetings with 4.2 release. I've found that when using Dial By Number function, as soon as you press the digit to launch, the greeting will start over and will not stop as caller dials digits. Transfer will still work, just sounds like it won't since we're so accustomed to the greeting halting when we press digits.
