I am trying to access BCM50's through third party firewalls.
What tcp/udp port access rules must be defined to allow remote access to a BCM50 using Element Manager?

It depends on how you are accessing the BCM50. If you have the BCM50e model, it hasa built in 221 VPN router and you can set up a branch office tunnel to it.
IF you do this, then you would open up port500 (UDP for ISAKMP/IpSec), and protocol 50 or 51 depending on whether you will do esp or ah.

If you just want Element Manager access, you would need to unblock port (tcp) 5989.

If you need to perform any file transfer with the Element Manager you might also want to open up port (tcp) 443.

If you are VPN'ing into the box as I described earlier, then you don't have to open up the ports that ctelep is describing as it will all be hidden in the tunnel...however, if you are doing some sort of RAS untunneled, then yes, ctelep is correct.

Thanks ctelep,

It's much easier to open a port than to gain access to an entire companies LAN via VPN.
Hopefully there are no backdoor passwords into the BCM50 ;)
