I have setup a new VM mailbox with ext 131, added this to user and device config, enabled hot desk user, and put in the hot desk prefix and number. This VM mailbox is not tied to a device. It's sole purpose is to forward to the EHDU number. When I dial the user's extension, it goes straight to his voicemail instead of forwarding to his external number. I must be missing something simple like logging in to EHDU. I have another user on this same system who is working fine. They are both in the same CoS designed for EHDU. The CoS does not have permanent login enabled.

What am I missing here that is preventing the dialed extension from forwarding?

Please explain why voicemail is involved at all.

Voicemail is not required for EDHU to function.

I was under the impression a vm mailbox was required. I'm not sure what the alternative would be. This is how we have the other EHDU no device user setup.

I do know our other user checks his voice mail remotely from time to time. This would be nice to have for this other user, but I'm mainly concerned with simply being able to dial ext 131 and it transferring to his cell phone.

Ok, without permanent login enabled you will definitely need to login the user

I usually use permanent login so I'm sketchy on the login process.

I know you can setup a EHDU access number in the System Access form, call that number and login from there.

That seems difficult to me so there's probably a simpler method - try the help files.

Once logged in, you should be able to dial 131 from another station and be connected.

If the mailbox was created for auto-attendant transfers, it needs to be Extension or transfer only type to be able to transfer the call.

use maintenance command - Locate feature Extension 131 to determine the status of the EHDU.

Thanks for the help guys. All I needed to do was login, by doing the following.

create login code for ehdu user - user and device config > user pin = device login code
call EHDU login number, hear tone, dial ext#, followed by login code, press #, then you'll get system dial tone, then hang up

EXT now forwards properly
