Why do some VCM's say 65ms echo cancellation and some say 25ms yet they are similarly priced? Wouldn't you want 25ms? Or does the 65ms mean it stopps echo UP TO 65ms effectively?

I'm looking at two VCM's right now, one is an 8 port and one is a 10 port, and they show that difference (besides the two extra ports obviously)

the 10 port is the old version the 8 port is the successor that has 2 ports less to have the power of more effective echo cancellation. The VCM 10 is over 5 or 6 years old so stay away from it, the VCM 8 is the newer version but also a bit aged because it is only used for the 400 series or with a legacy carrier on the 500 series
