Hi,

User is using ECC version 1.5 coupled with a plantronics bluetooth wireless headset.

Connected to gatekeeper ELU32 (ROF1375428/1 R6A) running firmware R7A.

The user complains about roughly a couple of times a month they're on a phone call and the speech sounds like it's underwater. User fixes the situation by either clicking on the ECC window or closing and restarting ECC.

They're using codec G.711.

Please let me know if there's any more information I can provide to help determine the fault fix.

I suspect we need to change the ELU32 for an IPLU as they're running software version TSW (BC13 SP3).

Cheers

hhmm,,

could be network but wireless headset as well hmm..

tell me ..

does the fault replicate if you remove the headset from the equation? does it happen continuosly or intermittently.

if you browse to the IP address of the handset what entries do you have in Voice QOS Values/Cumlative packets lost, network delay, jitter & packet loss rate at the time of the call?

Hi,

Thanks for your response, when the headset is removed the fault still occurs so we can rule that one out. The fault is intermittent but the users are very vague as to when it's happening; they say randomy during the day.

I know if you browse to the IP address of an IP extension you get all the information you requested (QOS Values/Cumlative packets lost, network delay, jitter & packet loss rate etc) but I'm not 100% certain this information is obtained from browsing to an ECC client?
I will try this on Monday morning when I'm next visiting this site.

What we plan to do is this;

- Replace ELU32 with IPLU/2 and configure
- Loan one of the affected users an IP handset and monitor for a couple of weeks.

By doing this we'll know whether the fault is network related or on the PC running ECC.

What is your experience with ECC? I've been told that Windows XP doesn't support QOS... If this is the case it might be why we're getting this obscure fault.

Cheers

Hi,

After upgrading from ELU32 to IPLU running firmware R3F and changing the voicemail integration from ELU32 IP to IPLU, here's what we found after the 1st week of the changes;

- ECC users are still randomly experiencing bad speech quality.
- The IP phone I installed as a test has worked perfectly in it's first week.
- ECC users now when they call voicemail pilot number the voicemail doesn't recognise their extension number and as a work around they have to enter # first then enter their extension number and PIN to access their voicemail.

My troubleshooting method points the problem to the ECC/PC/NIC configuration as suspected and not the LAN/IP card in MX-One TSW configuration.

We're going to continue monitoring for another week but in the mean time I would like to find a fix for the ECC users calling Voicemail and having to enter # first then their extension number and PIN.... Has anybody experienced this?

Kind Regards

M@
