Hi - I know you can use vector, vdn and ICHT programming to block incoming nuisance callers but when a call is non ACD and to a direct dial number this doesn't work. I'm sure in the past I have used the EC500 method but I haven't looked at it for years and can't for the life of me see where I am going wrong! I must be missing something simple but can't think what. I have been testing with a spare mobile number but can't get the calls blocked - can anyone see what's wrong??

Current config...

To make this even more frustrating, on the odd occasion I do get blocked... but it's on a very rare occasion which has confused me even more!

you need to create a station , the below example says admin without hardware but a ip station with no phone plugged in also works , this is a copy and paste from avaya support , but i have it working on my switch.

Solution

Step 1: Add an AWOH station (Administered Without Hardware Extension) with EC500 like this example:

display station 79698 Page 1 of 5

STATION

Extension: 79698 Lock Messages? n BCC: 0

Post Connect Dialing Options: dtmf

Cellular Voice Mail Detection: none

Confirmed Answer? n

The Calling Number Verification field needs to be set to "n" if the incoming call SETUP from the PSTN ISDN trunks has:

screening: user provided not screened

If field Calling Number Verification is left as "y" then the EC500 feature will not consider Calling Party Numbers received with "user provided not screened" as viable candidates for EC500 (as they were not screened by the PSTN) so the EC500 feature will not kick in an the call will not be blocked as expected.

Step 4: Add a mapping between the AWOH station from step 1 and the Calling Party Number that we desire to block. Example for blocking calls from 6131234567:

list off-pbx-telephone station-mapping

STATION TO OFF-PBX TELEPHONE MAPPING

Station Appl CC Phone Number Config Trunk Mapping Calls

Extension Set Select Mode Allowed

Thanks Monty - it was "Calling Number Verification? n" that was the issue. Mine was set to "y"

All good now :)
