I have Notebook Compaq Armada 100S with win 98. During bootup it shutdown automaticaly while if i boot in safe mod, then there is no problem. How can i fix the problem to boot in normal mode.
You could try booting in step-by-step mode (another option of boot menu with safe mode) - note each driver as you load it, and see if one of them causes the reboot.
i am trying but as soon as i press power on button in 4-5 seconds its shutdown it self. i did not installed any new software since long time. Even it waas not in use since couple of months but now its giving this problem.
So do you mean it won't even stay on for more than 4-5 seconds? In my mind, this is not enough time for Windows to even start the boot process. Is this the case? Have you tested or replaced the battery?
OK, this may sound silly, but can you boot the machine when it is plugged into the AC outlet? Try that with the battery in, and again with the battery removed. It sure sounds like an electrical problem (dead battery, open connection, or a short). Seems unlikely to be a software problem.
