Have any one came across a SL48 with the following error: "drive comm error (F1 00)...
After a reboot the SL48 works until it gives the same error...
Regards
Drive comm error is usually an issue with the serial comms link between the drive and library controller.
1. First try re-seating the tape drive.
2. Get the drive and/or library up to latest firmware if either are downlevel.
3. This is the most likely: the drive has an internal problem causing it to stop responding to the library controller, and the drive will need changed.
Is this connected to a windows server? You may need to disable the TUR (test unit ready) function in the OS. I have seen this wreck havoc on a tape library. The system / drives are so busy trying to respond to the TUR that it hangs. Google the solutions on how to disable the test unit ready function in windows.
