In a previous thread, the solution of:

You can program an extension port as the door phone, and then program as many extensions as you want to receive the doorphone alert. Beginning with R6, you only receive one alert, previous releases would continue to "ding-dong" until you answered or it timed out.

If you have spare CO and extension ports, you can make the doorphone a Hotline to the spare extension, loop that to a spare CO port, and place that "line" on extensions with a unique ring tone, which will give you repeated ringing until answered.

I don't understand the loop. Is that physical or programming?

Given the option between this, and dropping to a Processor with earlier software, which do you think would be preferable.

Thanks for the help!

It's a physical loop. You would program the door phone as a hotline extension to ring say extension 20. You would then connect x20 on the system to line port 5 (or another open line port). Program line 5 on the phones you would like to ring for the door phone. When someone presses the door phone, it rings x20 and because of the loop it will ring on line 5 of the system (and any phone you program with line 5).

Thanks for the fast response. I have a number of processors, and might choose to use one of the older ones to get the features I want.

I have the following:

R 3.03 CO1
R 4.0 CO1
R 6.0.3 CO1

It's a fairly plain jane install.

Four incoming CO line (actually ATA's… VOIP lines) Stuck with old style telephone wire in inaccessible locations.
Voice Messaging (Large)
PC Administration Card

The only thing unusual is the door phone, and I can get to ring to time out needed with the older processors.

Thoughts?
