How do I program a CICS system with 2 door phones and NOT utilize a ghost extension?

It depends what you want the door phone to do.If all you want is to call the main phone press f 9*4 and Program as is.

I want the door phones to ring on all sets

Then you will need the ghost DN to appear on the phones as answer DN's because the call dn in DP programming can only call one phone. You could put an answer Dn of the call dn on every phone but every time that phone rings all the phones will ring.

My customer is trying to free up 1 DN on the system to avoid upgrading and I thought there was a way of it working the same as the ghost ext. but programming the door phones to call a hunt group or???

Don't forget though that u can make the doorphone page instead of ring all phones. Set the rings to None, give the doorphone access to whatever page zone your using, and make it PAGE everyone when someone is at the door. Program a speeddial on all phones to call the doorphone. You can only put so many Answer DN's for the same extention. If the place is big, it won't work so great.

Not sure if you can give each door their own page sound though. I would hope you can.

Depending on Release I've had good luck programming Door Phone to ring Hunt Group. Then all you have to door is give Hunt Group Name(Back Dr-Frnt Dr) and Assign extensions to Ring/A&R as necessary. When they answer they'll know who they're talking to. Train Employees not to press button as now sometimes when pressing Hunt Group Button rings everyone in Hunt Group. Don't have to burn up an extension this way.

Disregard!!! This works for MICS!!! Don't believe CICS has Hunt Groups!!! Apologies.

I always beleived huntgroups were introduced in the later versions on both CICS or MICS, you should find it if it's over 4.1 if I'm correct.

good luck

It does depend on the version, and for some strange reason I've noticed the hunt groups option isn't there unless your system is programmed with 3 digit extensions.

Hunt groups require at least a 3-digit extension, because there aren't enough digits to support the B2 channels & the hunt groups with a 2-digit scheme.

Thanks, I thought it worked on a CICS before but the system I was working on had a 2 digit DN, hence no hunt group heading.
