Folks, I have a Door Opening Controller (DOC) and I want to install it w/o a doorphone. I will be opening a door with an electric striker which I realize will need another relay. However, I can't find an Installation Guide for the DOC. I looked into TEK-Tips archives and found some correspondence back in '05, but seems as though no one had a installation manual then either.......can onyone help please?

To wire the doc terminals 1&2 12-24 V AC/DC.
connect the first door striker lead to terminal4
connect a jumper from teminal 1 to terminal 5 relay common
connect the remaining door stiker lead to teminal 4 N.O.
Or terminal 6 N.C.
Terminal 7 and 8 is the door phone connection.

Thanks Phasesplitter, but I am trying to use the DOC without a door phone.....possible?

I hope to control it via a button on an M7310....?

How will they know somebody will be at the door?
Is is a Norstar DOC? if not you may need to use a C.O. port with the relay.
Norstar DOC you can select a code to use via dipswitches on the DOC.

I'm pretty sure that requires a call initiated by the door phone ext. (press 6 by default while on the ring-down call)

Might be cheaper to wire the circuit with a simple make/break switch, and a 12v transformer.

Hey folks...the door is in front of a window with several desks (all of which may or may not be occupied...depends on the time of day or nite). I thought of a button, but then we would have to run wire & conduit to the center of the room. Not too pretty. I like the idea of the CO line. If I had an installation guide for the DOC, I could probably figure out the application.....any leads on an installler guide please? By the way..this forum is teriffic! Thanks for your patience.....!!

Ah, so sorry...yes it's Norstar. It is not the desktop model made by someone else.

the book that comes with a DOC doesn't give much information that would help you. I gave you the connections. Pins 7 & 8 are data in. Pins 9 & 10 are data out. The door phone is the interface between the KSU and the DOC.

Thanks guys....I guess I need the Door Phone itself then.
The DOC won't work as a stand alone.
