Hi, i just setup my 1st avaya using IPO ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/SoftwarePub/3_0DT/ADMIN3_0_580.exe and now want to connect the door intercom from my old BT versatility unit. I am trying to find the "how to" in the manual but cant - any ideas ? The IP403 DT has 2 x POTS ports on the front that i am assuming i can connect to but then i guess the setup is somewhere - but where ?

well in theory yes, but as it's not working i would look at programming the door phone to send the ipo some digits.

Use an analogue handset in the port you are using for the door phone to test if the ?D shortcoded is working or not. If it isn't you haven't programmed it correctly, remember it needs to be "Dial extn" not "Dial" if you are ringning an internal handset with it :)

the shortcode ?D should work, did you put the 206 into the Telephone Number field?

hello - no dial intercom option.... so im going to try dialext (as per amriddle) and dialphysicalextbynumber options.....

in the number field is it ex206, v206 or just 206 for extension 206 called SpareOffice and if a hunt group required is it hMain or just Main for the hunt group called Main ?

can an rj45 plug to BT socket adapter be a MASTER as this the the only adapter i have to try the analogue phone in the POTS port ?

ok - working on ext 206 so now changing it to a hunt group. will setup new hunt group called door, link in the extensions required and give the group an ext No 400. then ref the hunt group ext No as before :

?D
400
DialExt

that looks good to me, you can put that shortcode into any user to test the shortcode, it can be digital or analog.
Sorry I missed the 3.0 release and that's why I said dial intercom that is for newer releases.

I have a new problem with a door intercom... all the above works OK with this one but when the extension hangs up the DOORINTERCOM does not and so the intercom speaker hummms with a time out tone.....

how do i set the intercom to reset when the extension hangs up - so that is is ready for the next door visitor ?

That's nothing the IP office can help you with it will be a setting within the Intercom itself :)

You could force it to hangup the port after a time period though by adjusting your shortcode as follows:
?D
400t(2)
DialExt

The t(2) will make the IP Office end the call after 2 mins adjust that time to suit your needs, if the intercom will clear down is another question but it should really :)
