Hey all,

I seem to have managed to re-record the day menu and night menu prompts ("welcome to our business, yadda yadda yadda") but for some reason, when people call in, all they here is:

"Transferring call, please hold..."

and then nothing for 30 seconds or so, then they hear it again and again and again ...

So no menu prompt, and wherever it's transferring them doesn't have a ringing phone on the other end.

So 2 questions:

1. How do I renable the main menu prompt for the auto attendant? I can't seem to find this anywhere?

2. How do I figure out which extension it's transferring to right away?

Thanks,
ian

Sounds like your voicemail hunt group 7 is not programmed correctly. Assign the correct extensions to hunt group 7 and all should work as you want. If you don't know which extensions to assign give us the configuration of your system (which module in which slot) and we can help you on your way.

Sorry in advance if I sound like a total newb on this, it's my first experience with a phone system.

Okay, we have two 206EC r4.1 modules and the main ACS module.

What I have so far is all of the extenions set to no ring to have the auto-attendant answer right away but it just answers with "transferring call, please hold".

I don't know how to set up a hunt group ... I'll check it out in the manual see if I can lessen my headache ;o)

The general mailbox owner and call answer service operator are set to x12, our tech support guy since he'll get 95% of our incoming calls anyhow.

I'm not sure what other ifnormation I need to give you.

Okay, I went back and set up the hunt group for the extensions but now when I dial INTERCOM-777 for the voice mail it rings through each of our phones and takes like 20 rings to eventually get to the voice mail system.

The menu prompt that plays now is an old announcement I tried to set up but later scrapped... I can't seem to find where to delete that message now - but when a user tries to leave a message in the "general" mailbox, the message goes off into la-la land - it doesn't show up in anybody's mailbox that I can find.

And it's still not playing the menu prompt I recorded from the system administration menus for the day menu and night menu.

Sorry for all of the questions...

Okay, I've set the VMS hunt delay (#506) to immediate answer so the automated attendant could be used... hunt schedule #507 is set to always.

But it's still not going to the automated attendant - when users call in it rings and rings and rings ... and then trips over to our telco's voice mail system with a generic message we set up with Verizon. Obviously not what we want.

I can't seem to figure out how to activate this automated Attendant. Any other assistance would be groovy.

The schedule has been set in the Partner Mail system for our 8am-5pm PST hours and my night menu greeting reflects these hours for callers ... but nobody gets to hear it.

What else am I missing???

Hi Ian,
You need to set only the voicemail extensions into hunt group 7. (#505,7) All the other extensions must be removed. That should leave ext 34 and 35 in hunt group 7, unless you have a four port mail, then add ext 32 and 33 as well. Assign the active incoming lines to group call distribution (#206, 7, then 01, 02, 03, ...).
Now, when you dial into INT777 you should get "welcome to partner mail..."

Hi Chris,

From the two modules we have installed, we're only using a handful of extensions for voice mail as our office is quite small and only have need for a few employees to have telephones and voice mail.

We only use x10, x11, x12, x14, and x17 for our staff members. x19 was originally set up as a receptionist line so the general mailbox owner and call answer operator owner were originally set to x19, but I've since changed that to x12 for our tech support guy.

So to clarify your instructions then, I need to use #505,7 and set lines 01 through 04 (we only have 4 inclimg lines) and set only the 5 extensions above as '1 Active' on the hunt group?

I'm not sure what you mean by "four port mail" - we do have 4 RJ-11 lines being fed into the Partner Mail system... but we don't use any extensions over x17 anyhow.

Even still, your instructions are helpful and I'll give that a shot when I get into the office in the morning. We're unable though to get the autoattendant working however... any other thoughts on that?

Thanks much!
ian

Thanks Brian, your guide helped immensely! Our auto-attendant is working great and you saved me a huge headache.
