I heard PASS basic went back to release 25 now. I don't know what good that will do you except maybe buy a few extra minutes of phone time before they tell you to upgrade and hang up.
On 5.0 you can still get ISM expansions via e-auth codes, but that's all. That's better than nothing I guess.
Last life cycle notice from Avaya dated nov.2011 shows eoss for rls 3.0 thru 4.50 is scheduled for july 2013 and 5.0 and 5.50 for nov. 2013. Also rls 23-25 in july 2013. And rls 6.0 at the end of 2016.
You are 4 releases behind. It's time to upgrade. I do believe there is a new release coming out this year also. I have been told that you can only be 2 releases behind to get support. You also wont get a keycode upgrade for Rel. 5 if you need one.
Rel 7.5 is nothing but a nightmare from our experience and it doesn't appear as though Avaya has any clue how to fix many of the problems. Maybe their next release will be better, but I'm not holding my breath.
Lets see, UCM logins quit working randomly, seems like a new jboss patch is released every couple of weeks to fix that yet it never does, phone management with UCM is a joke, and so on. The sheer size of the Linux service packs and time to apply them is ridiculous. This is just my opinion, so 7.5 fans can put the flaming arrows away. On an upside paychecks are bigger thanks to more overtime hours keeping the systems running. On a downside the customers see me as the representative of Avaya and their poor software.
I look forward to days when I get to work on anything 5.5 or below.
biv343 forgot to mention that various menu options in element manager don't work. As an example when attempting to access varoius items you either get error messages or are told that item has been removed. Hmm wonder how the switch works if all of the RLBs have been removed. They seem fine when you go to the command line. I used to be a fan of Nortel switches and still am on anything 5.0 or older but beyond that it just junk. Maybe this was Avaya's plan all along, to kill the Nortel line, but the Avaya Red isn't anything to write home about. I'd never recomend their switches to anyone.
How about not being able to transfer node config settings, randomly with no rhyme or reason without help from a voodoo priest. Or the magic disappearing/changing sftp tokens. I do have one 7.5 system that I upgraded that has been rock solid. It is 100% TDM and the customer had me leave the CPDC card in the box. No UCM there, probably wont ever hear from that site again.
