Dear all,

I am happy that there is nothing to be worried about Olaf.
However, I am really wondering and feel sad thinking what must have made, an highly experienced person like Olaf, decide that he should keep a low profile (as Koen said) in this forum. He was a (not was but is) great contributor with immense knowledge of not only VFP but in many other areas including our latest techs.

If this decision was made based on some emotional matters directly connected to this forum, I would request him to think again. On the other hand, if this was because of possible tight schedules of his job, home, business of whatever, we would certainly be waiting for your come back and thank you for everything Olaf.

Just want to add my admiration for Olaf and his sharing of knowledge & experience with this group.

And Vernpace, I don't think it's so much a "pouring of emotions" from us as it is a thirst for knowledge. JMO.

I also wanted to express my deep gratitude for Olaf's comments and detailed, thoughtful descriptions. Many, many times when looking for a solution to a problem I came across answers from him in this forum or also other forums, in which the problem has already been solved or explanations were given by Olaf that cannot be found anywhere else. It would be a shame if Olaf's valuable contributions and unique ways of analyzing things were forever lost to our community. Olaf, if you are reading this, please forgive one or the other user if a comment should have frustrated or hurt you and please be aware that you are more valued by so many greateful people than you can possibly imagine!

Mike Lewis has already said about Olaf,

He is quite safe and well. But he is very busy with work at the moment, and feels that he has to focus on areas other than VFP for now. He said he is grateful for our concern.

So if Olaf needs a break, then give him a break. We know he's very valued on this forum but if he is busy with more important things, then he'll come back when he wants to.

Let it go....

Thank you

I just want to add that while there's no question that Olaf has added a great deal, his absence is an opportunity for others in our community to step forward. Maybe you don't have as wide knowledge as Olaf, but if there are one thing you know about and someone asks about them, step up.

When I first started working with FoxBase+ in the late 80's and joined CompuServe for the FoxForum, there was a crew of people who answered questions. Over time, some of them moved on to other things, but always new folks stepped in and filled the void. I don't think any of that original crew of teachers are still around in the Fox community (and many of them have died), but some of us who learned from them are, as are those who learned from that second group and so on.

One of the reasons VFP is still going strong after all these years is because this community has always been filled with people willing to help others.

Great post Tamar and makes perfect sense to me.

Indeed Tamar. The Universe abhors voids. They always gets filled.

Yes, great post Tamar and it really makes sense, as Steve Williams said.
And Steve Williams, what you're saying is also correct. If Olaf needs a break, for whatever reasons, connected T.T. or not, let it be and let him come back when he feels completely comfortable for that.
