Having the same problem with distortion on BCM 450 on 3 way conference calls every couple of weeks (customer makes 20-30 conference calls a day). System has been updated to Release 6 , reboot or shutdown clears problem . No alarms are present to indicate where the problem is and no Services shutdown when fault occurs . There is no change in Usage of CPU or Media Card Resources as per BCM monitor .

Are the patches up to date? see our FAQ's

20-30 conference calls a day
I would have said time to use a conferencing 3rd party company at 10 times a day.
The BCM maybe taxed out.

See how the Monitor Usage Indicators are doing.

Thanks for your reply , the system was originally a Release 1 and the relevant Patches that Nortel said would fix "robotic noise on 3 way conference calls" were applied with no luck . The system was upgraded to a Rel 6 in an effort to fix the problem but again with no luck . The system appears to be experiencing the problem on more frequently recently (and getting shorter between when the fault is fixed by a reboot and the time it re-occurs) with no apparent change in customer behavior . This site is a 24/7 operation so a scheduled reboot is not possible . Attached below is a screenshot of the current patches and the Usage tab from BCM Monitor .There is no difference in any the the screenshots before and after the fault . Primarily the customer would take a call then conference another outside party but I have also experienced it with an incoming call conferenced with another internal extension . The system does have an expansion chassis and a CEC card installed .

latest patches are SU22 and Desktop 5. Conference issue was corrected in an earlier patch that released the DSP conference ports in an orderly manner. Hopefully new patches will correct problem if not then could be the DSP ram card. Also make a backup first before installing latest patches then another backup after patch installation. I have seen issues with restores not working correctly on several SU patches.

Thanks for your reply the system was patched when it was a Rel 1 with a Patch that stated it would fix Conference distortion , it didn't so it was upgraded to a Rel 6 . The DSP ram card you mentioned where is it , is it the Card that looks like a normal Ram card or there is a small card that is secured to the BFT

Your patches are way out of date still....you are 2 years behind on patches so I would suggest to catch up or nobody will support your issues until then.

Thanks , due to the nature of this site Patches have only been applied that specifically mention a fix to issues with the system . As far as I can find there have no patches since Rel 1 that mention fixing a problem with Conference Distortion .

Your on your own then good luck.
