I received a request from our firm administrator asking me if it was possible to program a couple of phones--the Avaya 5410--to show the status of specific extensions. Essentially, they want to be able to see when three of our VIPs are on calls. Given my n00b-ness to IP Office and that I could not find an answer to this problem in a search of the forums, I am asking it here.

Now, the one posting I saw mention this in thread940-1118921. According to that post, when users are on the phone, their name should be underlined. Again, this presumes that the users are setup as DSS keys.

We have the users we wish to monitor in place on these phones, but according to our administrative assistant this functionality has "stopped." Given that there has been no change to this, I presume that this may in fact be an error. Nonetheless, I may as well look into it.

That said, what would be the way of ensuring that this behavior should be in place?

1043: Currently, the users extensions we wish to monitor are setup, but they are given the "Coverage Appearance" function under action. If I change this to "User," will the admin still be able to intercept calls much as they do now?

I am not a expert with IPO but by playing around with the system, if you use coverage appearance, the user's name will never be underlined.
If you want a busy lamp field for a user program the button the way it was discribed to me in that post.

If you want it to do both, program both buttons.

Yes, the User button can also be used to pickup an unanswered call. What the admin won't get is any ringing - they'll just have to spot the underline unless they're physically close enough to the VIPs to hear their phone ringing.

What about parking a call? We would like our operators to see the status of the park zones... and they do not have any name assocaited with them as users do (per the link)
