this is just an idea, and i doubt it is possible..but its worth a try:

is there anyway to specify where a cookie is put with javascript or vb script?...the reason i need this is to prevent the cookies from being cleared...my app is not run from the web, it is run locally as a program (if it matters), and it uses cookies to store information..if this is not possible, is there anyway to store information with out using a database (i am going to learn how to do databases and what not soon, but i need a solution now if possible)

-thanks for any help -Greg :-Q

I'm not sure if you play with external files with js

If it is run locally (I presume you mean in a .js file?) you could change it to vbscript and store any settings in either an external text file (which you can stick anywhere) or better still, in the registry (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)

Greg,

I belive Crundy is right on the money here. In NS all cookie information is stored in the file cookies.txt. In IE, all cookie information is stored in a directory called "cookies" (I believe.) In order to change this flow, you would have to change the way the actual browser operates.

What are you trying to accomplish?

internet explorer (which is what i'm using) stores cookies in windows/temporary internet files..what i am trying to do is to put the cookies somewhere else so that the temp. files can be cleared of website cookies without losing the program information -Greg :-Q
