What can a PIII do that a celeron can't. I know that the PIII has a larger cache memory but what does this mean?

Celerons tend to lock their frontside bus frequency at 66 MHz while a PIII may have a 100 MHz or 133 MHz FSB. This FSB represents a massive performance boost because memory transfers and I/O benefits.

Put simply, the FSB is the bus between the processor and the RAM, so a 133mhz module of memory can only run at the FSB's speed, so on a cele u may effectively have slower 66mhz ram instead of fast 133.

Cache RAM is similar to normal RAM, except it is smaller and a lot quicker. It uses a special expensive type of memory thats why it is so small. It also has a bus- the BSB (Go on- take a guess ;) but this is always at the same speed/ faster than the processor cos otherwise it would defy the point of the cache. .....blah blah.... best of my knowledge, etc. "always in the quest for knowledge, and glad i could help"
If im wrong, its not my fault!
