Hi!

IPO406V2 system....current version 4.2.11.

when we dial out from 54xx digital handsets, the dialling keypad tones are not consistent, i mean they are not 'in sync' with the dialling progress. so the user is always unsure if proper digit has been pressed (unfortunately there is no back-lighting also on the phone).

if you start dialling out with 'Mute' button activated then it is ok.

as i understand the phones are not 'full duplex' that means microphone picks up surrounding audio including dialpad tones and to compensate for this feedback speaker is deactivated momentarily.

this is across all versions - from 3.0 upto 4.2.x...

is there a possibility that the dialling out action will 'automatically' mute the microphone during the dialling phase?...some kind of firing of a macro/menu programming?

has anyone experienced similar trouble?

regards

Just tested with 406 and 500 on 4.2.11 and no delay or problems, are these handsets off expansion modules or the system.

handsets are on the system itself..running firmware 5.00.
system is 406V2.

even the digits dialled are not displayed smoothly (it should display digits 'digit-by-digit as you dial'...) but it is erratic...suddenly 3/4 dialled digits will get displayed and then again nothing for a gap...

dialpad tones is more severe bcoz users dont get that feel that no. has been dialled properly..

By any chance did you go from 3.1 to 4 software or through 3.2 first? If you went from 3.1 straight to 4 you have missed a step that is required for correct functioning. I assume you have also tried to resolve this with a power down rebbot rather than via Manager, as it's not quite the same.

frankly, this is a demo unit :)

so it has gone from 2.1 upto 4.2.11...not directly though...in multistage upgrades. It has been downgraded also and also been cleaned completely and not only upgrade via DTE-Debug as well as Boot Loader several times bcoz i prefer to start from scratch time permitting.

But we do all kinds of work n testing on this unit.

So thats a good point you have made. But even installations fresh installations which are 64 MB and PCS-08 have the same problem.

I can honestly say ~I have never experianced this problem any any system as far as I'm aware, and you have had it on multiple systems?

i am not quizzing you :)...but i continue to have the problems...it is only when you go Mute during dialling that you get a proper dialling tone experience...

We experienced this issue at our office. Same hardware (406v2). At that time, we had gone through tons of firmware changes, including several beta versions. Ultimately, we ended up resolving the issue by DTE erase, proper firmware upgrade, and reloading the config. The "stuttered" dial issue then went away and never came back.

Also, I should point out, we removed any expansion hardware, such as VCMs and PRI cards while the process was performed. Because we weren't sure if a faulty piece of hardware might be causing the problem, we then added each piece one by one and seeing if the "stuttered" issue returned, but even after everything had been added back, the system was running fine. So I assumed the DTE erase was the resolution, but from what you've said, that didn't seem to work for you.

the DSV2 units must be upgraded to 3.2.999 before loading the 4.2 software
