I have bcm 400 that is not yet connected to my LAN.
Until then, I can dial up to it. I am connected to the BCM over dial-up, have browsed to the BCM software page and entered my password. However, the Element Manager will not let me connect - says is does not recognize the device type.
What should the IP address be for the modem? I've tried 10.10.14.1, no luck. Thanks!!

you should connect to 10.10.11.1

make a new connection using that ip address in EM

dial into the switch then run EM then connect using that ip address

That was the first thing I tried. Does not work either.

is you pc/laptop set to dhcp or does it have a static ip address ??

After your Dial-up Networking connects there should be an icon in your system tray that looks like two PC's communicating, double-click on that icon.
Select the details tab and it will show you the Server and Client IP's. You want to connect to the server IP.
Usually it's 10.10.11.1, but I've also seen 10.11.16.1.

HTH!

Stupid anti-virus. I stopped all my AV services and viola, I am in. It is downloading the cartridge now which will probably only take 5 or 6 hours at 56k. ;) Thanks for the assistance. BTW it was 10.10.14.1.

Spoke too soon, download canceled itself. Better get that LAN port going!

it was probably the cartridge download they sometimes time out... goto the Avaya site & download the cartridge library for your release
