I have recently reformatted my machine and reinstalled windows 98.
However, when I start my machine, I keep getting the dial up connection screen open. This is not in my Startup folder and don't know where to look in registry. It is not a major problem, but just inconvenient.
Could someone please help me to stop this from appearing.

Thanks
Magic Dave.

Have you installed the latest free version of ZoneAlarm? - It has a bug that causes this - There is a thread relating to it, but essentially it will be fixed when Zonelabs release a newer version and not before.

It's my best guess based on what you have described :)

Please let us know if this was helpful.

Regards.

You have a program loading at start up that is trying to accrss the internet.
Go to Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG and see what is loading.
Probably some program reuistration or update.

Might check in DIAL UP NETWORKING, right click your connection icon and then left click PROPERTIES , CONFIGURE BOX and then OPTIONS tab. Is the box BRING UP TERMINAL WINDOW BEFORE DIALING checked? If so UNCHECK it. Worth a look.
