I have a customer that is telling me that he does not get dial tone on his 5602 Voip phone before making a call. he is dialing 9 first, the call still goes out no problem.

This is on IP Office 500 Version 4.2

This can have a couple of reasons.

1) The option "secondary dialtone is not checked in ARS.
2) There is another shortcode starting with a 9 (system or user)

Check that and see what happens.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

Good suggestions but that did not seem to be the case. Secondary dial tone was checked and there was only one "9" short code.

SC 9N
Feature: dial
Number N
Group ID Main

Try [9]N instead of 9N

No user shortcode for this user ?

So you only have one shortcode with a 9 in the system shortcode ?

Do you have the ARS configured with:

N
dial
N
line id 0 (or what is used)

I did find that there is a user short code for all users.

9N; NsiXXXXXXXXXX Dial 3k1 Line 5

Line 5 is the PRI.

Which means it does not follow the ARS and does not provide secondary dialtone :)

Don't need to have the ;
Also why the same for every user if you can do it by 1 SC?
Also "User rights" will do the trick for multiple users.

You are correct.

Not sure what they had going here, they had the SC setup in User rights

I will consider removing it so that it will then use the ARS, which appears to be configured correctly.

Thanks for the help!!
First time user here, results were fantastic!

Glad you've found it.
Welcome here, if posting then post as much info as you have.
Then it's easier for the guys out here to pin point you problem.

Also a trace from the sysmon (SysMonitor) will help a lot.
