DHCP Relay using ERS5510 1

Can anyone tell me how can I setup a DHCP relay using ERS5510...

BOSS 5.0 SSH
HW:05 FW:5.0.0.2 SW:v5.0.0.011

Since I´m not familiar with this switch I do not know the apropiate steps to make this work properly. I got some manuals from the internet but it does not explain in detail how can I do it.

Any help will be apreciated.

1. Enable DHCP globally.
2. Set a VLANIP as the DHCP agent and a Server IP as the DHCP server,to configure an ip dhcp-relay forwarding path.
3. Set the mode for each DHCP forwarding path.
4. Enable DHCP for the specific VLAN.
5. Enable the DHCP broadcast message for the specific VLAN.




ipdhcp-relay command. The ipdhcp-relay command is used to enable DHCP relay.DHCP relay is enabled by default.

#ipdhcp-relay or #no ipdhcp-relay



The ipdhcp-relayfwd-path command sets the mode for the specific forwarding path DHCP relay settings globally.

#ipdhcp-relayfwd-path<DHCP agent address><DHCP server address> enable


The ipdhcp-relay command allows configures DHCP relay settings on a VLAN.

#ipdhcp-relay[min-sec<0-65535>][mode{bootp|dhcp|bootp_dhcp}]



The ipdhcp-relay broadcast command enables DHCP relay broadcast on a VLAN.command is executed in the Interface configuration command mode.

#ipdhcp-relaybroadcast

I just realized that I need to do the same configuration on my 8610 passport in order to make it work for the whole building. I found that the configuration for this equipment is very different from the 5510.

I just need to know how tho enable the DCHP relay on my passport.

Here's an example for the passport 8600 CLI, assuming you want to enable DHCP forwarding for VLAN 4 and your DHCP server is 192.168.2.2. This first command should already be in place.

config vlan 4 ip create 192.168.4.1/255.255.255.0

config vlan 4 ip dhcp-relay enable

config ip dhcp-relay create-fwd-path agent 192.168.4.1 server 192.168.2.2 mode dhcp state enable

These commands will show you how its working:
show ip dhcp-relay fwd-path
show ip dhcp-relay counters
