My apologies if this is a repeat, but I have searched and having no luck this late in the day.

On my BCM 450 I have a phone line setup that employees use as the call in line. When they call this line it goes straight to the voicemail box that is attached so they can leave a message. Since this is an unmanned call in line, I don't need an actual physical phone tied to the line.

My question is how do I deregister the assigned DN on the IP handset without removing the line? When I plug up the 1120E IP phone that is configured with that DN it boots up with no issue. However when I go into Business Element Manger and deregister the DN so that I can redeploy the phone, when you try and call the number is says not in service. How do I reassign the handset a different DN without deregistering it?

Thanks

You can't.

When you deregister an extn number on an ip phone the phone will become available for you to register another dn extn number.

When you deregister an extn it's the same as unplugging a phone.

Reassign your line to another working extn
Or set up an AA to answer the line and transfer it to a mailbox.

Do you need to deregistered it because you need to reuse the licence or you just need the phone some where else.
If just the phone make the one with a line and VM in programming its called keep alive. This will keep that extension working even if it's not connected and just reconfigure the physical set with a different IP address and extension number.

Or the Express Messaging Line option might help you.

Thanks for the replies. cook1082, I have plenty of licensing I simply need the physical phone to use somewhere else. The extension is already set to keep alive and the phone has been in the box since the deployment of the BCM.

How to I reconfigure the set with a new DN without deregistering it? The only way I know how to assign a new DN on a phone with an existing extension:

Plug up the phone and wait for it to boot/connect
Locate that DN in Business Element Manager and click Deregister
Then on the handset you are prompted to enter a new DN

Thanks again for the help
