it does make sense, in that if the option is disabled, Win7 normally deletes ALL MRU's (aka Jump-List), and reenabling it should activate a clean MRU list... or so the theory...

works for me... remember it states the SEARCH MRU...
you can also limit the number of items displayed on the jumplist, by following the instructions below:
1. click the ORB (START)
2. move mouse to pinned program that displays lots of entries in the JL...
3. move over to JL and right click, on an empty space, then choose
Properties...
4. a new window should appear, in this window you should be on the second TAB (StartMenu), click on the
Customize
5. a new window should pop up, there on the last line it should read something along the lines of:
Number of Recent Items to display in Jump Lists:, in the box next to it you should be able to limit the items, e.g. default should read 10...
