Calls come in on dedicated DSL from ITSP to IP500 R4.2. Most of the time it's all good. They take a few hundred calls a day on the SIP trunks.

Intermittently, the call will be presented to the phones, and when they answer they get dead air. If they hang on to the call, the speech path will eventually kick in and then it is all good. most of the time the caller will hang up and when/if the call back, the call will be fine.

The DSL also runs a VPN to a remote site with 56xx phones and IP DECT which are always fine. DSL circuits at both ends are provider (Voiceflex UK) managed with Cisco routers.

I have been working with the provider getting things changed at thier end to improve things, but it is slow going.

anyone come across this??

plea don't ask about upgrading from R4.2. That is a huge can of worms that would swallow us all!!!!!!!!!!!

and today the remote end of the VPN died!!! I am tired of this.

Been out of the office so not been able to do much with this. i will be coding the SIP trunks to G.729a over the weekend and getting Voiceflex to do the same on monday.

I have asked them if they could do the wireshark, and the reply was he's running the trace. Didn't say what kind of trace!!!

Truth is voicelfex have never accepted or denied where the issue is. I sent them some sample times and numbers of problem calls last week and didn't get a response!!!

Who do you guys use in the UK for SIP. We can also deal in Gamma I believe. Anyone use them. Any other recommendations??

Depending on the IOS version (I think it starts in 12.4) he should be able to export the pcap traces directly from the router to a ftp/tftp/scp server you specify. Then you can open them up directly in wireshark. The trick is to A) get him to agree to it and B) get him to send you a trace with a bad call in it.

The ITSP I use I'm pretty sure is US only. I will check into it.

What is really interesting now is that we have the lines diverted from voiceflex to to DDI on the customer ISDN 30 into the IPO. They are still having similar issues!!!!

I'm starting to think the problem is between BT and Voiceflex.

We will see!!

We have been having issues with BT leased lines and SIP and it boils down to issues in the london linx exchange :)

Wonder if Voiceflex's IP link to BT is via that.

Has this known issue been haging around a while. This issue we have has been!!!
