Is there any state or city in a state where the residents are called name-ites? Like Delawarites, Idahoites...
Theres gotta be one....
A bit off topic, but this was the closest forum I could find. As you will see, it didn't deserve a new thread. And apologies, as this is mostly a Stateside question.
When states are referenced, it is common to hear "the Carolina[red]s[/red]" or "the Dakota[red]s[/red]", but it seems like no one ever says "the Virginia[red]s[/red]."

As a resident of Virginia I don't hear it very often, but I think that's because Virginians don't like to think too much about their western namesake (kind of like the black sheep of the family).

I kind of suspected that but was curious what others thought. WV is a small state that doesn't seem to get much national attention, at least not until Sen. Robert Byrd diverts another few billion in federal pork back to his home state.
