Does the phone system need to be rebooted after installing one of these babies!? Its lighting up but 8 buttons are flashing on the module and it sounds like a relay is activating

have you programmed any of these buttons yet on the bm30?

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm

Yes I programmed one of the buttons on the set. It still is doing the funky chicken. I tried rebooting the phone system too....

try to reboot the phone.
if that fails then it can find the firmware it needs.
is there a active tftp server setup and active?
is the right file for the dbm32 on the tftp server?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

This is a 1416 digital set not an IP set. How could it reach the tftp server?

i know it is digital otherwise it would be a bm32 and not a dbm32 :)
i don't know your setup, you did not tell us :)

try to reboot the phone.
This did not make a difference.

if that fails then it can find the firmware it needs.
It didn't find the firmware it needed.

is there a active tftp server setup and active?
Not that I can see. Is there a TFTP server natively installed in the Avaya IP office V2? I cannot find the location of it if there is.

is the right file for the dbm32 on the tftp server
Unsure. I do not know the location where the files are kept.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Sorry for not explaining my setup correctly.

Is it connected to the phone correctly

The cat 5 cable to carry power from the power injector to the phone.
Must be as you are getting lights.

The black connector from (mod) on phone to (phone) DBM 32.

I notice that when the system reboots the module makes that relay clicking sound until the phone comes back up.

I followed the installation instructions in the manual for the 1416 set. I double checked that it was connected correctly.

Yes I am using the right cable.

Yep I'm using the black cable.

I notice that when the system reboots the module makes that relay clicking sound until the phone comes back up.

I'm thinking the module is booting and looking for its firmware and not finding it.
I need to find out what specific firmware I need. I also need to find out if I have a TFTP server running and where its files are kept.

Thanks.

lwilliams, the ipoffice can act as an tftp server and should find the correct firmware from the sd card

I put one in yesterday and didn't really do anything and it worked ok.

Could be a faulty port connection on phone.
The module may not see the 1416 phone

Having said that the power is getting through on pins 7'8 ok.

I will assume the 1416 phone is working ok.

Try the DBM on another phone to rule out phone connection.

You probably. Have already done that.

I wish mine went as well as yours :)

I've tried a different set and a different extension. No luck

Yes Its getting its power ok.

Yep I did.

I've tried a different DBM32 module also.

So you are installing stuff while you do not know the product?
You better ask these kind of questions to your supplier.
Your IP500v2 has an SD card which can be used as the tftp server and that is where you need the firmware for the (d)bm32 modules.

if i had a dollar for every time a tech asked me about a button module that's 'not working'...

I guess this forum is for people that already know the answers!

It is for techs who can discus bugs or some other stuff.
Normally it is not for end users.
But occasionally we help them when a reseller fails big time and we then want to keep up the good name of the product.

I'll remember that next time. Thanks for your professionalism.
