Greetings,

I would like to know the maximum size limits for each of the below dbase III file types:
NOTE: not max # tables, NOT field sizes, NOT # of fields, indexes, etc... but the actual size of the file (kb, mb, or gb) .... what are the maximum sizes each can be.... Thank you...

dbf

ntx

Thank you once again for any help....

Bruce

Not certain on max sizes but if you get multiple large tables the indexes may get corrupt. I battle this all of the time. I just purge, slice and dice to get a functional size again.

dBase 3 (mid-1980s) was a 16-bit DOS app, dBase 5 for DOS (1995) was a 16/32-bit hybrid whose compatibility was enhanced for Windows. I used 2, 3 briefly, 3+ and 5.

I don't know if there was a specified file size limit for dBase 3, but all these apps could not read or write files larger than 2GB (2^31 bytes). That would be the upper limit.
