Database on server, error on shared forms, Path? 1

I have shared forms with colleagues, and have come up with errors regarding the path convention used. is there a single point where the user part of the database points to the shared data on the server? can i point their front end to the data easily.

From the Front End, use FILE, GET EXTERNAL DATA, LINK

link to the backend on the server
