Hey all,

I have a list of phone numbers in a Word document in the following format:

Number
City
State
<space>
<space>

What I'd like to do is import this into Access, but I don't know how to do it, or even if it CAN be done. Could someone please point me to a website that would explain how to do this?

FWIW this is a list of phone numbers for internet access for our mobile laptops. I'd like to set it up so a user could just go to an Access query, enter the state, and get his or her local access number (my request sounded pretty flakey when I read it over thus the explanation).

Thanks,

Joe Brouillette

I would copy it into excel, manipulate it into a nice table format, then import it into Access.

[Blue]Blue[/Blue] [Dragon]

If I wasn't Blue, I would just be a Dragon...

LOL! I was hoping to get around that because the list is several hundred pages long. I'm trying to find an easier way to get the info into Access. Any other ideas???

Thanks,

Joe Brouillette

You can easily manipulate the data in excel with formulas or code. wouldn't take no time if it is already pretty much the same design all the way through.

I'll give it a shot.

Hi JBruyet,

If your list is always exactly like that - 3 lines of data in the same order followed by two blank lines, then

Select all your data
Select Table > Convert > Text to Table
Under Number of Columns Enter 5
Under Separate Text at Choose Paragraph
Click on OK

Delete the last two columns from the Table
Then Copy and Paste the Table into a new Access Table (I'm assuming this is a one-off so there's no point writing code).

Enjoy,
Tony
