Can you use a 120A CSU for a Line Side T1? We have a IVR system we are installing, and want to make use of existing parts and pieces. We would like to avoid order additional parts #102938.

I used 120's to connect to IVRs, and CTI servers. Seemed to work fine...

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. ARISTOTLE 384-322 B.C.

Can I use a straight-through with the 120, or do I have to use a cross-over? We have ran continuity testing on the cable from end-to-end, and verified the terminations, but we are unable to get the NMS AG4040 card to recognize the PBX output.

What kind of card are you using in the IVR, and how do you have the DS-1 setup?

Thanks for your replay, David. It is an NMS AG4040 card in the IVR. The DS1 is configured as thus:

DS1 CIRCUIT PACK
Location: 03B04 Name: IVR Test2
Bit Rate: 1.544 Line Coding: ami-zcs
Line Compensation: 2 Framing Mode: d4
Signaling Mode: robbed-bit
Idle Code: 11111111
Slip Detection? n Near-end CSU Type: other

You might want to try changing the Near-end CSU type: to integrated.

I have it setup for my IVR's both ways. with CSU's and without.

Good thought, but it didn't work for me.

You don't need a CSU for line-side applications unless the distance is over 600 feet. The DS-1 board in the PBX should be a TN767C or later, a TN464F or later, or a TN2313.

We resolved the issue late yesterday, and it turned out to be that the cross-over diagram we were using was for RJ-45, not RJ-48 on a T1. It works fine with the 120A, as long as you have the correct cross-over cable configuration.
