Crackle on voicemails

Hello there all,

I have a problem on an IP500 system where the voicemails are crackling/distorting. Using the voicemail to email facility the customer has sent me quite a few examples. The messages are clear as day until about 1-2 seconds then distort/crackle for the rest of the message. You can hear a click and then the distortion.

This is an intermittant fault as I have been to site an bombarded voicemails and not had the fault once...

It is coming from multiple users to multiple mail boxes.

I am told that the VCM card has been changed already.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Not sure about the reboot as like I say the fault is so intermittant its difficult to pin it down.

I only ask as i had a site where the AA was doing this, a reboot would clear it for a few days but it would come back sooner or later.

Ended up just swapping the embedded card.

What type of Line into the IP500??
What type of phones are they using?
Does the noise happen on internal calls to??

They have BRI, 4 analogue trunks and IP dect.

No interference on internal calls.

The phones are 1616's.

The thing that gets me is you can hear a 'Click' like something is latching and then the message distorts and this is always at about 1-2 seconds into the message.

Is it a IP500v1 or a v2?
what software version?
This issue has occured on both type of ipo's and is a bug in dsifferent versions.
So tell me what type on what version.

Hmmm, it should be fixed in 5.0.24:

EVM greetings/messages are distorted. Caused by dropping call to AA that has been forwarded off switch.

Try an upgrade to 5.0.26

It was previously updated from an earlier version to 5.0 (24) I was under the impression that bug was fixed in 5.0(22) ?

You really think and upgrade of software will cure this. I know the next step is going above V5.0 to get support however this inccurs cost and I am hesitant if this will not cure the fault...

Could you confirm that the crackling only happens when there are more than one VM channels are in use at the same time?

We had a same problem, rebooting the IPO will solve it for a while but then it comes back (sometimes for a week or up to 3 months), renewed almost every thing except for the EVM card and the ISDN hardware from the provider.
We also grounded everything.

Bas, i have hd it on 6.0.8 on an IP500v2
For me the voicemail channels where stuck.
It alsways had to do with the AA and an external transfer.
Only the 5.0 (ip500v1) was sligtly different from the 6.0 issue.
Although it looks the same.

For me it happend when the external destination was busy and the IPO kept trying.
After about five times the EVM got stuck.

We had this problem from version 4.2 up to 5.0.26. We've put almost every new IPO version in whitout luck. 6.1 > is no option for the customer because he won't pay for it.

No AA,

Do you think moving over to VMPro would solve this issue ?

I am being pushed to implement VMpro to cure but I am worried the problem will still exist and at a huge cost to us.
